11th February: Projected Image Competition #5

Last night’s competition was judged by Rojer Weightman from Stoke Poges Camera Club.

Congratulations to Ian Roberts who won the Beginners‘ section  with “Cladding on Tower Block East London”.

In the Open section, Rojer cleverly avoided a ‘domestic’ by awarding both Judy and Mark Buckley-Sharp 20 marks for their “Sailing By” and “Horsey Pump” respectively;  the overall winner was Alan Graham for “Sunset Over the Bay”. Congratulations to them all.  Images that scored 19s were Judith Gimber’s  “To the Lighthouse”, “Lake Tree” by Peter Polkinghorne,  “Gas Towers” by John Draper and “Forward Thrust and “Portrait of a Lioness” by Avril Candler.  Amongst the images scoring 18 were “Mosque” by Alice Kass, “The Sunken Wreck” by Barry Sampson and “Venerable Teacher” by Gerald Michael.  These and the other high scoring images may be seen on our Facebook page.

Many thanks to everyone who supported the evening and, as always, special thanks to our judge, Rojer Weightman.

4th February: Workshop

What a great constructive evening we had last night.  Members brought a few images each along for open discussion, encouragement and constructive suggestions for improvement some of which we’ll see in future competitions.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed and we all look forward to similar events.

28th January: “More Wildlife” a talk presented by Andy Sands APAGB

Last night we enjoyed a fantastic illustrated talk by Andy Sands.  Andy’s knowledge and expertise is truly engrossing.  His macro images of minuscule lifeforms such as amoeba and fungi were amazing – opening up a whole world for many of us.

So many thanks to Andy and to everyone who came along to this informative and entrancing talk.
