At last night’s well-attended meeting, after a showing of Barry Sampson’s “Desert Island Images” , Julia Wainwright took us through a presentation on the myriad aspects of the importance of colour.   It was a fascinating session and we look forward to seeing our competition images on 21st July.  The competition will be judged by Amanda Wright.

Next week’s meeting,  we have a talk:  “A Project Based Approach to Photography” by David Keep (from Derbyshire).   The subject has special relevance – which will be revealed in due course!

The large part of the meeting was devoted to the sharing of our  ‘Desert Island Images’ .  In the style of the famous radio programme ‘Desert Island Discs’,  each photographer submitted two images, choosing either their own work and/or an image that inspired them.  Each spent a few minutes going through why they were inspired, how or where they were taken, what memories they evoked etc.  It was a totally absorbing, informational and enjoyable evening – a very special event.

Julia revealed the last of this year’s four weekly challenges – “Colour” – and we look forward to rising to it!  The competition will be judged on 21st July by Amanda Wright from Ealing and Hampshire House PS.

We may still be in degrees of lock-down but our minds, imagination and ‘togetherness’ thanks to virtual meetings are free!
