Many congratulations to Judy who has been given this year’s RPS Members’ Award in recognition of her extraordinary support and contributions to the Society. This award gives Judy Honorary Life Membership. Well deserved and well done!
Many thanks to Tal for his talk which was peppered with some of his extraordinary photographs taken in zoos around the country and in India. His philosophy is to make creative/artistic images (in camera) expressing his personality as well as the animals he is photographing. Throughout the talk he gave top tips for achieving the best possible images in difficult situations particularly in zoos – wire fences, glass/reflections etc.
What came through strongly is Tal’s passion for conservation, tigers, ethics and good fieldcraft; plus his artistic influences such as Van Gogh all of which contribute to his successful work.
So thanks again to Tal for a thoroughly enjoyable and informative evening.
Many thanks to Barry Sampson, Ian Roberts, John Draper, Julia Wainwright and Trevor Alexander for their informative and entertaining presentations of their Summer projects.
Barry took us through his ‘lost summer’ thanks to a fall which meant he had to change ‘tack’ – life on his boat was constrained to taking photos of the marina, comical boat names and sunsets……Barry doesn’t ‘do sunrises’. A lovely set of images to start the evening with.
Ian gave us a detailed presentation on his journey into the print process sharing a great deal of very useful information with us all.
John took us into his garden and the extraordinary life of wasps nest building, butterflies on Buddleia , the structure of a magnolia blossom and the beautiful pasque flower.
Julia’s challenge was to work on high impact image making, describing her process and work in progress.
Finally Trevor took us through his multiple exposure challenge and results to date with a red Ferrari………..maybe one day it will be a real one!
It was a great evening and much appreciated by everyone. Thanks again all.
