26th January: Photographing the Night Sky – Talk by Pete Colley

Last night Pete Colley took us out of our lockdown mindsets up into the night skies. To quote Pete “our eyes can only glimpse a tiny fraction of the incredible lightshows and the beautiful objects that our night skies have to offer. But with the cameras and lenses that most photographers already have we can capture the stunning displays and many of the amazing astronomical objects that will only reveal themselves after the sun sets.”

His talk was packed with technical and practical information, peppered with images of nightscapes, star trails, aurorae, zodiacal light and much more. Moon, stars, planets and galaxies, ‘just’ millions of light years away to explore and capture through a camera lens……

Very many thanks to Pete for a thoroughly enjoyable and fascinating evening.
