21st March: CACC Championship Day – Chilterns Hundred Exhibition and Projected Championship

This year the Chiltern Association of Camera Clubs interclub Projected Championship and individual Chilterns Hundred Exhibition were pre-judged by Judith Parry DPAGB AFIAP HonPAGB (MCPF), Roger Parry ARPS MPAGB EFIAP HonPAGB (MCPF), Tim Morland ARPS (SPA) and the results presented online via zoom.  We came ninth in the Championship which was won resoundingly by Oxford Photographic Society – many congratulations to them and to Watford and Amersham for their respective second and third place.    But we are celebrating and congratulating Julia Wainwright who won the Chilterns Hundred Exhibition Gold Medal with “Coyote in the Snow”.  Many congratulations Julia, well deserved and well worth lying in the snow in minus-something-silly-below freezing!  Congratulations too to John Draper, Judith Gimber and Avril Candler who each scored 25 (out of 30) for their entries.

16th March: Virtual Quiz Night – with Alan and Jenn Graham

Many thanks to Alan and Jenn for putting together a thoroughly enjoyable quiz tonight and running it superbly over Zoom – a triumph over technology.   We may have missed out on our usual fish and chips supper but the bon homie and enjoyment more than made up for it.  Thanks too to Julia Wainwright, Paul Martin and Peter Polkinghorne for the behind the scenes organisation and technical support.

The evening was a great success and we look forward to next year’s quiz which may well include those fish and chips!

9th March: Online Still Life Projected Image Competition, judged by Lorraine Robins

Last night’s competition was judged by Lorraine Robins from St. Austell’s Camera Club.  A new ‘voice’ and a very welcome one.   Lorraine gave  instructive and thoughtful critiques across the very varied ‘takes’ on the subject of Still Life.

Many congratulations to John Draper  for winning with  ‘Chinese Lanterns’;  Avril Candler’s “Setting Out to Crochet” was second and Trevor Alexander’s “The Days Before Cad”, third.  Highly commended were “C-M-Y-K” by Mark Buckley-Sharp, “Vintage Spoons and Blueberries” by Dave Martin and “Glass Less Than Half Full” by Avril.

Grateful thanks to everyone for their input into the evening and special thanks to Lorraine for her judging.

All the images may be seen on our Face Book page and in the meantime here is John’s winning image.
