Many thanks to David for a master class in mono conversion techniques.  Using Photoshop with Silver Efex Pro and other software,  he demonstrated simple basics that produce subtle changes through to full workflow, building up layer by layer resulting in dramatic results.  There was certainly a lot of information to take in, in addition to the editing skills involved, such as  having a goal, visualise and plan the image you want, take fewer but better photographs and pay attention to detail.

So many thanks again to David for a very informative, thought provoking and enjoyable evening.

Sadly the weather and roadworks conspired against us and our planned meet-up had to be cancelled.  So we are now looking forward to next Tuesday and a talk by David Lowe ARPS DPAGB on Mono Conversion Techniques.

A very welcome return visit by Tony who gave us an excellent evening with his talk on Flora.  Framing the talk around months of the year to illustrate his approach to photographing ‘seasonal’  flora, including fungi and leaves, the techniques he uses to capture striking images, top tips on equipment and post-processing, made for a fascinating and informative evening.  The meeting was very well-attended (even though there was a little football match on at the same time!) so very many thanks to Tony, it was good to see him again.

Next week we have fingers and toes crossed for fair weather as we have our first face-to-face open air meeting at a local nature reserve (and yes, there is another little football match on at the same time!).
