5th April: Talk – ‘Looking after the RSPB’s images’ by Ben Andrew

Last night’s talk by Ben was inspirational.  In the first half he gave us an insight into behind the scenes of the RSPB’s extensive commercial picture library from the early days of ‘birds on sticks’ to images of birds,  insects, mammals, plants, landscapes and abstracts and of course environmental and conservation issues.   The library reflects the RSPB’s status as the largest conservation organisation in Europe. Ben clearly loves his job managing all aspects of the role.

In the second half we were treated to his wonderful wildlife images, bravely showing his early tentative images,  through the learning curve to the inspiring accomplished photographs he takes now.  Take out messages, think about what you want, have the image in mind, plan the trip and make the best of everything,

Thank you Ben for an enjoyable and informative evening – your enthusiasm is catching.
