1st November: Talk – ‘Stairway to Heaven’ by Mike Martin EFIAP, AWPF, BPE1*

Many thanks to Mike Martin for a fascinating talk last night charting his love of photographing stairs, escalators, steps etc, just one of the projects in his extensive portfolio. Mike has a keen eye for the ordinary and the skills to make the mundane  extraordinary.  His talk took us through his creative processes, illustrated with some of his project work that challenges reality by changing perspectives, turning pattern repetitions into surrealist images.  And along the way we were given some top tips like ‘work with what you’ve got:  explore images to decipher them and perhaps alter perspective: edit – focus on important things’: recycle images to create a story to name just a few.

So once again, many thanks to Mike for a thought provoking, informative and entertaining evening.

Next week we are on Zoom again for our Open and Landscape projected image competitions which will be judged by Alan Copeland LRPS APAGB from Whitchurch Hill Camera Club.

We look forward to seeing everyone’s images.
