2nd January 2023: New Year Greetings

We hope everyone has had a good Christmas and look forward to seeing everyone after the break.  We are back next week, Tuesday 10th January, on Zoom for our Open and ‘Built Environment’ (architecture) projected image competitions which will be judged by Darren Pullman BPE3* CPAGB EFIAP.

A reminder to members that they may enter a total of 4 images split how they like across the two competitions.

Looking forward to seeing everyone’s images and ‘meeting’ Darren next Tuesday.

In the meantime have a good week and hope 2023 is a really good year!

13th December: Montage Workshop – presented by Alan Colegrave ARPS BPE1*

Many thanks to Alan for taking us through his photographic/videographic journey and his creative use of software such as Photoshop to create his montage images.

His presentation, from those early days of Photoshop, through to other software such as Topaz,  was certainly thought-provoking and, as he hopes, it will inspire some ideas for us all.   Alan collects interesting backgrounds,  dilapidated and abandoned buildings or turns to Surrealist art for inspiration.   Those backgrounds often underpin his own creative montage work.  Much food for thought.

Thanks to everyone who supported the evening.  We really appreciate the time and effort that goes into making and presenting our workshops so special thanks to Alan for his timely presentation and we look forward to seeing everyone’s montage images in the up-coming projected Montage specialist subject in February.

We are taking a Christmas break and will be back on 10th January on Zoom for our Open and ‘Built Environment’ (architecture) projected image competitions which will be judged by Darren Pullman BPE3* CPAGB EFIAP.

In the meantime, Season’s Greetings and all good wishes for 2023.

Stay warm!

6th December: NWLondon Federation Match 3, judged by Steven Galvin LRPS

Last night we hosted the third match in the preliminary round of the NWLondon Federation interclub competition which comprises projected images and prints;  our judge was Steven Galvin, Marlow Camera Club.

We were pleased to welcome members of Amersham and Pinner against whom we were competing.  There are strict guidelines when judging the NWFed competitions which Steven explained and adhered to!  The range of marks is 15 – 20;  in addition two prints and two projected are awarded stars each match;  these will be judged at the Final for the individual best print and best projected regardless of whether or not the club does.  Sadly we won’t be progressing any further this time. Warm congratulations to Amersham who will go through to the semi-final in January and commiserations to Pinner whose journey also stops here.   Congratulations to our starred Harrow members and good luck to all for the Final.

Many thanks to Steven for his positive feedback during the judging process and to everyone who came along to support the event.

On a happier note, we did win our Rosebowl round against Princess Risborough, Hemel Hempstead and St. Albans on Monday evening.  Stars are also awarded in this competition and recipients will go through to the Best Projected Image competition and Harrow members will be there!  Congratulations to them.

Next week we are back on Zoom for a workshop which will be run by Alan Colegrave.

In the meantime, have a good week.
