Many thanks to Peter Cox from Tring Camera club who judged for us last night. Peter’s erudite, constructive and helpful critiques were much appreciated.
Congratulations to Avril Candler for winning the Nature trophy with ‘Black Bear Clam Hunting’. Judith Gimber’s ‘Worm Catcher’ and ‘Razor Bills with Sandeels’ were second and third respectively. YC Wei’s ‘Osprey’ was commended.
This year’s Print of the Year competition entries comprised members’ personal choice of their prints that had been shown either in monthly of specialist competitions during our 2022/23 season. In a very close race for first, congratulations to Alan Colegrave whose ‘Princess, Guatemala’ was awarded the Trophy; Judy Buckley-Sharp’s ‘Dressed for the Occasion’ was second and Alan’s ‘Religious Event, Guatemala’ third. Highly commended were ‘Finlay’ by Judith Gimber, Judy Buckley-Sharp’s ‘Open Late’ and ‘Under the Bridge’ by YC Wei, and ‘Yurt Mother and Child Kyrgyzstan’ by Alan Colegrave. Commended were Alan’s ‘Wet Wet-Neck’ , and ‘Reflection Brackets’ and ‘Water (Algarve Pool)’ by Peter Polkinghorne.
We thank Peter for his excellent judging and everyone who entered and came along last night. All the images may be viewed on Facebook.
Our 2022/23 competition year is now ended and we look forward to our 2023/24 programme with its mixture of Zoom and face-to-face meetings – the latter in our new home – Century Bowling and Sports Club.
Have a good summer and hope to see you in September!
What a lovely way to spend a warm June evening out and about on Hatch End Hight Street with our cameras. Thanks to Judith Gimber for briefing us on the challenge which was ‘shadows’. A simple brief, use an empty card and take up to six images in Jpeg Fascinating how, like walking a cute dog, cameras attract people, making for a very convivial and interesting evening. We re-convened at the Guide Hall for a show and tell and feedback session. Many thanks to Avril Candler for running the images – naturally not everyone stuck to the ‘rule of six……..
Thanks to all who came along for an enjoyable evening.
Next week, to the relief of Hatch End residents, we are back in the Guide Hall for our Print of the Year and Nature competitions which will be judged by Peter Cox.
In the meantime, enjoy the weather and stay cool.
