3rd February: Open Projected and Annual Sets of up to 8, judged by Steven LePrevost MPAGB FRPS FIPF AFIAP BPE5
Many thanks to Steven LePrevost from Guernsey who judged our competitions last night. Steven’s erudite critiques, delivered in such a kindly manner, made for a very informative and enjoyable evening.
In the Open competition John Draper triumphed taking first, second and third places with ‘Victorian Tearoom’, ‘St. Michael’s Mount’ and ‘The Eye’ respectively – hearty congratulations John. Highly commended were ‘At Sunrise’ by Avril Candler, ‘Error-Winter Lights’ by Trevor Alexander, ‘Eruption’ and ‘Mecidiye Mosque Evening’ by Mark Buckley-Sharp and ‘Lone Skater’ by Judith Gimber. ‘Light Walkway’ by Judy Buckley-Sharp and ‘Seagulls Soaring’ by Leo Firman were commended.
Annual Sets of up to 8 Images: this competition challenges us to develop a themed or sequenced set of images which give extra dimensions to our work. The judge comments on the individual images whilst considering the effectiveness of the set as a whole.
This year the Trophy and congratulations go to Avril Candler’s ‘Growing Up’ – from new born elephant to fun-loving ‘teenager’! Mark Buckley-Sharp’s ‘Paddington Trees’ was second and Judith Gimber’s ‘Flamingos Preening’, third. Peter Polkinghorne’s ‘South West Coast Path Devon was highly commended.
Thanks to everyone who entered one or both competitions and very special thanks to Stephen for his detailed and complimentary reviews of our work. Thanks too, to everyone who came along to support the evening.
Next week we are ‘at home’ at Century for an informal members’ evening.
Have a good week as we fly through February!
