9th May: Open and Set Subject Print Competitions, judged by Amanda Wright

Last night our prints were judged  by Amanda Wright, Ealing and Hampshire House Photographic Society.  We were a very select gathering thanks to holidays, rain, unforeseen and foreseen commitments!  Even the car park was almost empty!  Nevertheless we had a great evening thanks to Amanda’s warm, helpful and informative judging.

Our Set Subject this year was ‘The Elements’ – open to interpretation and creativity.   Congratulations go to Avril Candler for her winning print ‘Textures of Sunrise’ and her second placed ‘Out of Control’. Peter Polkinghorne’s ‘Water (Algarve Pool) was third.  Highly commended were Trevor Alexander’s ‘Give it a Zap’,  Alan Graham’s ‘Sunset Over the Bay’ and YC Wei’s ‘Lake with a Tree’;  YC’s ‘Rapids’ and Barry Sampson’s ‘Elemental Bus’ were commended.  Well done to all.

Special thanks to Amanda whose critiques were delivered in an informative and kindly way – much appreciated by all.

Next week we look forward to a talk by Eileen McCausland AIPF ARPS on ‘Black and White Portraiture’ – on Zoom.

Here’s hoping Spring (or even early Summer!) will have arrived by then.
