17th November: Annual Projected Sets of up to Seven Images – Judged by Kathy Chantler ARPS
Very many thanks to Kathy Chantler, from Imagez Camera Club, for her excellent judging last night. Our annual sets of up to seven images is a rare beast! And this year we had a bumper entry. We ask the judge to critique not just the images within but also the set as a whole. Kathy’s informative and helpful commentaries were much appreciated and she didn’t flag despite having to talk about in excess of a hundred images!
Many congratulations go to Mark Buckley-Sharp who won the Trophy with his set entitled “Lines”. Mark tells us this set is mainly inspired by Art Deco in Bexhill with echoes of that style from Hastings and Rye. There are bold lines, mostly in a rigid geometry. The final image has the hue reversed for colour harmony. It is certainly a departure from his usual narrative documentary genre – and it worked!
Julia Wainwright’s “King Penguins at the Seaside” was second and Avril Candler’s “Calla Lily Swirls” third. Highly commended were Ron Churchill’s “Flam Dancer” and Judith Gimber’s “Remberance”.
Once again, many thanks to Kathy for her sterling judging and to everyone who entered and gave us such an interesting and delightful evening.
The entries my be viewed in our Facebook page but in the meantime here is a flavour of Mark’s “Lines”.
