Panel of Small Prints (John King Trophy)

After being part of  the club programme for many years it has been decided it is time for a change so this competition has now been withdrawn.  It will be replaced by a Montage Print Trophy.
Details are being finalised and will be published soon.

For this competition members need to prepare a panel of prints.  Each panel must contain multiple images on a single mount. This is an annual competition.

Format of Competition

This competition is judged by an external accredited judge.  No marks are given, although the judge will provide commentary before selecting an overall winner on the evening to receive the trophy.

In addition to the winner, the judge may be invited to declare an order of merit for inclusion in our Annual Exhibition.

How to Enter

A member may enter up to two panels.

  • Each panel must be on a single mount of any shape with a maximum area of 2000sqcm e.g. 40x50cm.
  • The panel may display any number of obviously separate prints/images without repetition.
  • Each print/image may be any shape within its own maximum frame size of 17.5×12.5cm (7″x5”).
  • Non-photographic material (‘props’/graphics/text) of any size may be included within the panel.

Further Information

The John King Trophy began as a film based competition where the images were only returned to the photographer as twelve enprints on the competition evening.  Using scissors, boards, tape and ‘props’, the resulting montages were then judged.  Although we are now in the digital age, please bear this history in mind and continue the spirit of the event.
