26th April: Annual Panel of Prints Competition judged by Michael Lurie

Very many thanks to Mike Lurie from Pinner Camera Club who judged our competition last night.  It is quite a challenge as The Panel of Prints competition is an opportunity for members to submit a set of images with a common theme, event or story. Mike was presented with examples of each, a really broad spectrum of subject matter and his excellent, considered and considerate commentary made for a very enjoyable evening.

Congratulations go to John  Draper for winning the trophy for his exemplary panel entitled Rust – photographs taken of the accumulation of rust on Brighton’s West Pier, visible at dawn – well worth getting up early for!

Winner of the Annual Panel of Prints Trophy

Mike awarded two panels highly commended and these were Julia Wainwright’s ‘If You Go Down to the Woods Today’ and Trevor Alexander’s ‘Bluebells at Dockey Woods’.

Once again, many thanks to Mike for his judging and to everyone who made a panel and contributed to a very enjoyable evening.

Next week we are back at Hatch End for an interactive workshop on print critiquing – either with prints that did not do as well as expected in competition or work in progress for positive feedback and advice.

Have a good week and enjoy the May Bank Holiday.
